4-7.2Gear Box (Self-Propelled Models Only).
The gear box is lubricated with 3 ounces of
High Temp. (450°F) grease. Order part number
737-0223. Periodically check lubricant level by
removing the two self-tapping screws on the
gear box cover and lifting off the cover. Do not
change grease; simply add if necessary. The
gear box, part number 717-0493, is a complete
assembly. See Figure 4-49.
4-7.3 Clutch Rod Adjustment (Self-Propelled
Models Only).
1. Assemble the clutch grip to the left hand side
of upper handle. Secure in place with clevis pin
and hairpin clip. See Figure 4-50. Head of cle-
vis pin should be to the outside of handle.
2. Slide the extension spring onto clutch rod as
shown in Figure 4-51. Thread hex lock nut onto
clutch rod approximately 2-1/2 inches.
3. Hook top (hooked end) of clutch rod into upper
hole of clutch grip and hook spring into clutch
bracket assembly. Spring should not have any
slack. See Figures 4-50 and 4-52.
4. Adjust clutch rod nut so that when clutch grip is
all the way up, there is no slack in spring. See
Figure 4-51.
5. Thread hex jam nut (thinner nut) onto clutch
rod and lock it against lock nut.
4-7.4 Height Adjustment. The height adjustment
crank is located on the right hand side of the
vacuum. Turn crank clockwise to raise noz-
zle.Turn crank counterclockwise to lower. See
Figure 4-53.
