13. Clean and grease all the shafts.
14.Place a scraper between the two case halves
and work around the perimeter of the gear
case until all RTV has been broken free
between the halves.
NOTE
Clean both gear case mating faces thoroughly
and apply a bead of RTV or silicone sealant
around the perimeter prior to assembly.
15.Pry up and separate the left gear case from the
right gear case. See Figure 3-242.
16. Assemble in the reverse order above.
Shift Lever Replacement
NOTE
Perform the Tiller Gear Case Assembly
Removal and the Gear Case Separation sec-
tions prior to performing shift lever replace-
ment.
1.Remove the snap ring securing the shift lever
in position using a pair of retaining ring pliers.
See Figure 3-243.
2.Remove the detent shaft and shift fork from the
gear case. See Figure 3-244.
3.Remove the detent shaft spacer from the gear
case. See Figure 3-245.
4.Remove the hexed input shaft, 16T spur gear,
and bearing as one assembly using a block of
wood and a rubber mallet. See Figure 3-246.
