Troubleshooting the Safe Speed Monitoring
Drive
This chapter provides troubleshooting tables for diagnosing fault conditions
associated with the safe speed monitoring safety functions.
Status Indicators
The safety lock status indicator on the control module illuminates solid yellow
when the configuration is locked. The safety lock status indicator flashes yellow
when the configuration is unlocked. If there is no safety configuration, the safety
lock status indicator is off.
Nonrecoverable Faults
In addition to the recoverable faults described in this chapter, the drive also
generates nonrecoverable faults when an anomaly with the drive hardware is
detected. These faults are Safe State faults. If a Safe State fault occurs, all safety
control outputs are set to their safe state.
To clear a nonrecoverable fault, cycle power. If the nonrecoverable fault persists,
the drive must be replaced.
Fault Recovery
If the fault is no longer present, you can clear the fault condition with a successful
SS Reset and a Motion Axis Fault Reset (MAFR) via the Logix Designer
application, except in the case of an Invalid Configuration fault, MP Out fault, or
Reset At Powerup fault. An Invalid Configuration fault is cleared by a successful
reconfiguration. An MP Out fault or Reset At Powerup fault is cleared at power
down or by a successful reconfiguration.
