pressing Update Clip will save the new settings.
The update clip operation can also be done using the shuttle pro:

Once an IN and OUT have been set, selecting the New Clip icon
will make create the new clip. The clip will be saved in one of
the following ways depending on the Clip Creation setting
defined:
• The clip is saved without any further dialog.
• The Save Clip window opens and allows the user to enter the
clip name and clip related information before the clip is
created.
You can define the Open Save Clip Window setting in the Clip
Creation tab available from the Tools > Settings menu. Refer to
section 4.13.1 “Clip Creation Settings”, on page 73 for more
information on the setting.
Note
When the user is trying to create a clip and store the
new media on a different XT server than the media is
coming from, the clip creation make takes a longer
period of time than expected. In this case, the media is
being copied from one server to the one defined by the
user, and will display clip creation notification once
complete.
