Ethernet Module (ETH)

Overview

The Ethernet Module (ETH) provides a one channel Ethernet access
port, for connection to COT Ethernet Exchange facilities, or to
RT/subscriber end Ethernet facilities.

The ETH Module differs from EoSM in its package mapping. The
ETH Module uses Bit Stuffing HDLC encapsulation. The RT uses a
GSH Module to connect to the User’s GSH-R facilities for Ethernet
Service, while the COT uses an ETH Module instead.

The ETH Module can provide a bandwidth of up to 16.384 Mbps.

Features
And
Benefits

„ Panel LEDS indicate status, faults, alarms, and network

connections.

„ RJ45 interface access located on the front panel.
„ Provides 16.384 Mbps of transmission and receive bandwidth

efficiency

„ Bandwidth allows for frequency width adjustment at 64 Kbps per

step

„ Can be used together with GSH and GSH-R to provide Ethernet

services

„ Use of non-volatile memory devices for performance data storage

Application

ETH, when paired with GSH/GSH-R, can provide limited bandwidth
Ethernet service to the subscriber (Refer to application in section
7.21). When ETH modules are paired at two different node, they will
provide the leased line quality Ethernet services.(Not recommended
for new deployment due to its bandwidth limitation)
