If you have a problem with your camera in VIDEO mode, refer to this section. Consult your dealer or a Canon
Service Center if the problem persists.
Power s ource
Refer also to the Power-related problems section of the Troubleshooting Guide in the Advanced User Guide
(PHOTO edition).
The camera will not turn on or it turn s off by it s elf.
- The battery pac k i s depleted. Replace or charge the battery pac k .
- Remove the battery pac k and reattach it correctly.
Shortly after turning it on, the camera turn s off on it s own.
- You are u s ing a battery pac k that i s not compatible for u s e with thi s camera. U s e a recommended battery pac k
( A 228).
The battery pack i s depleted extremely quickly even at normal temperature s .
- Chec k the [

202) to chec k if the battery pac k ha s reached the end of it s battery
life. If s o, buy a new battery pac k .
Recording
The camera’ s control s are not re s pon s ive/di s abled.
- When k ey loc k i s activated, all button s (or all button s with the exception of s ome REC button s ) are loc k ed and cannot
be operated. Pre ss the LOCK button to di s able k ey loc k . You can change which control s are loc k ed with the >
[
B
S y s tem S etup] > [Key Loc k ] s etting.
Performing a recording operation (pre ss ing a button/touching the on s creen button) will not s tart recording.
- The card i s full or it already contain s the maximum number of clip s (999 clip s ). Delete s ome clip s ( A 143) or s ave your
recording s and initialize the card (
A
35) to free s ome s pace. Alternatively, replace the card.
- The REC button wa s pre ss ed while all the camera' s control s were loc k ed ( k ey loc k , A 25). Unloc k the control s or s et
> [ B S y s tem S etup] > [Key Loc k ] to [All Except REC Button].
- The REC button that wa s u s ed may be di s abled. Change the > [

S y s tem S etup] > [REC Button], [A ss ign.
Button 10 a s REC]/[A ss ign. Button 13 a s REC] and [On s creen REC/ S TBY Button] s etting s to enable the u s e of the
de s ired button or on s creen button.
- Power s upply to the camera ha s reached the level s et for the power level warning. Chec k the power s ource.
- The camera cannot record while the [Color Correction] s etting s in the cu s tom picture file ( A 132) are being adju s ted
(except for the [Revi s ion Level]/[Revi s ion Pha s e] s etting s ).
The point when the recording operation wa s performed doe s not match the beginning/end of the recording.
- There may be a s light interval between pre ss ing the REC button (or touching the on s creen button) and the actual s tart/
end of recording. Thi s i s not a malfunction.
The len s will not function.
- Turn off the camera and correctly attach the len s again ( A 26).
- A len s that cannot be u s ed with the camera i s attached ( A 26).
- Chec k the content of the error me ss age when it appear s on the s creen and proceed a s s ugge s ted (
A
218).
- U s e the > [
B
S y s tem S etup] > [Power S ource Navigation] function to chec k the availability of len s e s ,
acce ss orie s , recording s etting s and power s ource s depending on the configuration of the camera.
The camera will not focu s .
- The camera may not be able to focu s on certain s ubject s u s ing autofocu s . Focu s manually ( A 85).
- When [Continuou s AF] i s s et to [Only Around Focu s Point], s tart focu s ing manually until the AF frame change s from
yellow to white (automatic adju s tment range).
- The len s i s dirty. Clean the len s with a s oft len s -cleaning cloth.
- The viewfinder i s not adju s ted. U s e the dioptric adju s tment lever to ma k e the proper adju s tment (
