Circle center as datum
With this function, the centers of bore holes, circular pockets,
cylinders, studs, circular islands, etc. can be defined as datums.
Inside circle
The TNC automatically probes the inside wall in all four coordinate
axis directions.
For incomplete circles (circular arcs) you can choose the appropriate
probing direction.

Position the touch probe approximately in the center of the circle.

Select the touch probe function: Press the PROBING
CC soft key
ú
To probe the workpiece, press the machine START
button four times. The touch probe touches four points
on the inside of the circle.
ú
If you are probing to find the stylus center (only
available on machines with spindle orientation,
depending on MP6160), press the 180° soft key and
probe another four points on the inside of the circle.
ú
If you are not probing to find the stylus center, press
the END key.
ú
Datum: Enter both circle center coordinates into the
menu window, and confirm your entry with ENT.
ú
To terminate the probe function, press the END key.
Outside circle
ú
Position the touch probe at the starting position for the first touch
point outside of the circle.
ú
Select the probe direction with a soft key.
ú
To probe the workpiece, press the machine START button.
ú
Repeat the probing process for the remaining three points.See
figure at lower right.
ú
Enter the datum coordinates and confirm your entry with ENT.
After the probing procedure is completed, the TNC displays the
coordinates of the circle center and the circle radius PR.
