When the Null-Space Conversion feature is enabled, any nulls in the current field on the screen
(ie, the field that the cursor is in) are converted to spaces. While the feature is on, null characters
in any field which gets updated are converted to spaces. Nulls in fields that are not updated
while the feature is enabled are not converted.
Configuration and Management
Configuration - The Null-Space Conversion feature is enabled on the Device Options/General
panel in configuration. If enabled, all devices will initially be in Null-Space Conversion mode.
Keep in mind that any operator may enabled this feature in a 3270 session by pressing the
Management - If users are unnecessarily or mistakenly entering Null-Space conversion mode
by pressing the
conversion key using the KDU or ADU utility.
Record Playback
With the Record/Playback feature, you can store a series of typed keystrokes and assign them
to a function key. When a display is in Playback mode, the keystrokes will be executed when
you press that function key. The Record/Playback feature reduces typing errors and saves
time.
LINCS provides keystroke record/playback functionality for any CUT device. Up to 24 local
sequences may be recorded and saved by any authorized user. Up to 24 globally available
sequences can also be defined using supervisor password. Only your display station has access
your local playback sequences. If you record a local playback sequence on a key that already
has a global sequence assigned on it, the local sequence takes precedence over the global
sequence. The assignment of sequences to global keys is controlled by use of a password and
selectively authorizing users to access the keys.
To record key sequences, select the Playback Sequence item on the Customization Data menu.
A port number can be specified as an input parameter. If none is specified, the utility defaults
to the current port’s Playback Sequence panel. To modify Global sequences or the Record
Playback (RPB) Sequence ID, the update parameter must be entered. User-defined sequences
and global sequences are saved on an RPB subdirectory on the hard drive. Sequences are
loaded into memory at IML.
Recorded sequences are lost when the display station disconnects from the port unless they
are saved to disk. Saved sequences, both local and global, can be shared by sharing the disks
on which they are stored, and the disk data is microcode upgradable.
Record/Playback Keys
The Record/Playback keys are device-dependent and may be different on your keyboard. You
can change the keys that support the Record/Playback functions with the Keyboard Definition
