Chapter 5. Host Connectivity
707021-001
The following 3270 datastream structured fields are supported to accommodate format loading.
• Destination/Origin
• Load Format Storage – This structured field (SF) contains an operand that specifies one
of the following actions.
• Add a format – This SF contains a group name to which the format should be added, as
well as a format name. If the specified group does not exist, then a new group is created.
If the specified format name already exists, the old format is replaced with the new
format. If the format is operator selectable, it also contains a local name that will be used
by operators to retrieve the format. Keep in mind that names are case-sensitive and
matching case must be used on retrieval.
• Delete the specified format - When LINCS receives this SF, it deletes the specified format.
• Delete the specified format group - When LINCS receives this SF, it deletes the specified
format group and all formats within the group.
• Reset format storage - This SF causes all format groups associated with the receiving
host to be removed. Formats loaded on other hosts will remain intact.
• Request summary status - When LINCS receives this SF. it returns an Exception/Status
structured field containing the following information:
• Number of groups loaded
• Number of format loaded
• Number of local names
• Format storage space still available
• Exception Status – This structured field is sent inbound from the LINCS node to
acknowledge each Load Format Storage structured field. It indicates if the LFS structured
field was successful or unsuccessful.
