* Channel transitions to offline include a system reset or taking the channel physically offline.
Once one event has occurred a second event will not generate a trap unless the channel has
gone online in between.

* Channel transitions to online represent receiving a valid channel command following an
offline event

Configuration and Management

There are configuration strings required for system identification and parameters required for
authentication and trap reporting. These configurations are based on both a controller basis
and on a board basis. The strings are defined on the SNMP Options panel and the TCP/IP line
options panel.

FTP Server

LINCS provides the FTP Server function as a means to provide microcode and customization
management. The FTP Server is available through any LAN line configured for TCP/IP or
through the HSC card if configured for IP over Frame Relay and may be accessed using any
RFC 959 compliant FTP client. It is even possible to make use of a Limited Access Telnet disk
to provide the necessary TCP/IP addressing information to LINCS. Note, some clients may
require that you specify the server’s operating system type. If so, select UNIX.

Features supported as of LINCS release (4.1) include:

• Replacing System files

• Creating a “backup” copy of the System files
