Chapter 3. DSPU Support
707021-001
• LUs from multiple hosts may be mapped to the same DSPU.
• New LAN clients may be added without changing the GEN or reconfiguring the
LINCS node.
Because a PC-Based DSN handles its own keyboard, LINCS functions such as Local Prints,
Device-oriented alerts, and the Response Time Monitor are not supported from the Gateway.
The host LU to LAN PU feature works with any LINCS SNA host circuit.
Configuration and Management
Configuration - The following lists the Configuration utilities which are used to define the
LUs and DSPUs which will be used by the LU to PU mapping feature. The “LU to PU Mapping”
EMU in Configuration will guide you through these configuration utilities.
• You must define at least one SNA host circuit to receive traffic for the LUs which will be
mapped to the DSPUs. Refer to the 3270 Host Connectivity section to information on how
to configure your 3270 host circuits.
• The Line Options utility should be used to define the LLC lines which will be used to
communicate to the DSPU(s).
• A LLC Link Profile must be defined with the link information to be used by the LLC link to
the DSPU(s).
• LU to PU Mapping Profiles are used to associate Upstream LUs with Downstream PUs.
Multiple DSPUs can share a LU to PU Mapping Profile, or if security is required a profile
may be defined for each DSPU.
Management - The “Display/Update 3270 LU Connections” utility displays all configured
3270 LUs and indicates whether or not DSPUs currently own the LUs. If a DSPU owns a LU,
the DSPU’s LAN address will be displayed. The LUs may be disconnected using this utility.
