Configuration and Management for Extended VPD
• Configuration – No configuration is required for Vital Product Data Support.
• Management – Extended VPD can be displayed and updated for each device using the
Extended VPD menu, available from the VPD Utility under LINCS Central Control.
DDDLU
The Dynamic Definition of Dependent LUs (DDDLU) feature allows logical units (LUs) to be
dynamically defined by a host. If the host sends an ACTPU indicating support for unsolicited
NMVTs for PSID, a PSID will be sent to the host from every powered-on device connected to
3270 LUs owned by the requesting host. The PSID will contain the device’s port number, a list
of LUs connected to the device, and a device description. The host will use the LU list and
device description to build its LU tables.
If a device is not powered-on at the time the ACTPU is received, a PSID will be sent to the host
if and when the device powers on. If a device powers off and back on, a new PSID will be sent
to the host and the host can dynamically redefine the associated LUs. If a session on a device
is using the Dynamic Host Connection feature to dynamically connect to 3270 LUs, a PSID
for the LU will be sent at the time the LU is connected rather than at device power-on time.
TTU
The Translate Table Utility (TTU) defines the EBCDIC-to-REGEN tables, which translate
communications character set data from a 3270 host to device character set data. Each LINCS
node is allowed to have two sets of Translate Tables for 3270 Host Support. By default, the
translate tables are defined based upon the primary and secondary languages which you define.
Using TTU, you may define the primary and secondary translate tables as desired. You may then
configure each of your 3270 host circuits to use either the primary or secondary translate tables.
Configuration and Management for TTU
Configuration – The Translate Table Utility is accessed from the Customization Data Menu
in Central Control Mode. It allows you to define up to two sets of translate tables referred to as
“User-Defined 1” and “User-Defined 2”
The User-Defined tables are associated with the primary or secondary language on the Language
Options panel in Configuration.
The 3270 Host Profile allows you to select either the primary or secondary translate tables.
Note that primary or secondary doesn’t necessarily refer to the primary or secondary language,
since you may define your user-defined translate tables starting with the base language of
your choice.
The 3270 Host Profile is assigned to a 3270 Host Circuit on the 3270 Host Circuits panels.
Configuration and Management for 3270 Host Connectivity
Configuration – The following list defines the Configuration utilities used to define 3270
Host Circuits. The 3270 Host Menu in Configuration(Submenu List) may be used to guide
you through these configuration utilities.
• The Line Options utility defines the lines you will be using to access your 3270 hosts. The
appropriate protocols should be enabled on the Line Options panels.
