ADU

The ASCII Definition Utility (ADU) enables you to customize ASCII device parameters,
enabling the definition of new ASCII display types, and to configure items such as printer
parameters and translate tables, which enable you to tailor the ASCII datastream to your needs.
ADU is a Central Control utility that can be used for:

• Device Definition: You can define new ASCII devices not currently supported by LINCS,

or add or change features to existing ASCII device definitions.

• Character Set Customization: You can modify or define new tables in LINCS that are used

to translate ASCII host data to/from CUT type terminals and printers.

• Printer Secondary Transparency Option: LINCS can embed control sequences into the 3270

datastream for LU1 and LU3 prints, to control printer functions such as formatting.

The complete description of ADU can be found in the ASCII Host Features Section.

KDU

The Keyboard Definition Utility (KDU) allows you to define the function of the keys for coax
display stations attached to the LINCS node. The KDU’s main menu lets you specify the type
of keyboard or keypad you want to modify. A series of diagrams of the keyboard will then be
displayed. To customize the keyboard, type the new function of each key directly on the diagram.
Details are provided in the LINCS Configuration and Central Control manual.
