Changing Base Modes
Press the PF3 key to select 10 (decimal), 16 (hexadecimal), or 8 (octal). When the operating
base mode is changed, the Input, Result, and Memory fields are converted to the new base.
When converting from decimal (base 10), only the integer part (digits to the left of the
decimal point) is converted to the new base. All fractional values are lost. The decimal point
operates only in Decimal mode. In Hexadecimal mode (base 16), alphabetic keys A through
F are valid characters.
Pasting the Result
Press the PF5 key to paste the Result field into the foreground-most edit buffer at the session’s
cursor position. To paste successfully, there must be a minimum of 13 character positions
available to receive the Result field, and the cursor must be positioned at least 13 characters
before the end of the line. The paste operation does not move the session’s cursor position.
Storing the Result
Press the PF6 key to store the current Result field into the calculator Memory field. As long as
the memory is not cleared with a Quit and Clear or power-off, the data in the Memory field is
retained.
Recalling the Result
Press the PF7 key to recall the data in the Memory field, and to place it into the Input field.
Calculations resume as normal.
Selecting Exit Modes
Press the PF4 key to select an exit mode for the calculator. Three options are available: Exit,
Exit with Paste, and Quit/Clear.
• Exit mode erases the calculator window, and returns you to your active session. All data is
retained in the calculator fields.
• Exit with Paste mode automatically pastes the Result field into the session’s current cursor
position before exiting. All data is retained in the calculator fields.
• Quit and Clear mode erases the calculator window, and clears all calculator data areas
(deallocates memory) so other devices can then use the calculator session.
• All exit modes restore your device to its state before calculator was invoked.
Exiting Calculator
Press the PF8 key to exit the calculator function. If the calculator is exited without clearing
memory (Quit/Clear), the window position and values in the data fields are retained by LINCS
and owned (memory allocated) by the terminal user. Other users cannot access the particular
calculator session.
Calculator Operation
You can add, subtract, multiply, and divide with the calculator. First, enter the value, then
select the function to be performed. Use either the numeric keypad or the normal keypad to
make entries or select functions.
