that the Host assignments in the HAP profile are ignored by displays supporting the HAP
feature. The Host Assignment for your HAP session should be defined in the displays
device profile.
The “HAP Session” and “HAP Status at IML” fields are also available in the displays device
profile to further define your HAP parameters.
Management - The “Display/Update HAP Session Status” utility is available on the Device
Menu in Central Control Mode. This utility allows you to change the status of your HAP
Session between a display and a printer.
Host ID
The Host Identifier is displayed on the status line of sessions connected to a host. The host
identifier is displayed as follows.
• 3270 Host - If a session is connected to a 3270 Host, then the Host Identifier will be displayed,
along the LU number. Whether the LU number is displayed in hex or decimal is set in the
General Options panel.
• ASCII Host - If a session is connected to an ASCII Host Class, then the Class Name is the
Host Identifier. If the session is connected to a specific ASCII Port (A0-D7), then the Host
Identifier is Host_XX where XX represents the ASCII host which the session is connected
to (A0-D7).
• IP Host - If a session is connected to an IP Host Class, then the Class Name is the Host
Identifier. Otherwise, the data entered at the “Connect To” prompt on the TCP/IP Connection
panel will be displayed as the Host Identifier. For example, if a DNS name was entered at
the “Connect To” prompt to connect to a TCP/IP host, then the DNS name (truncated to 16
characters) will be displayed as the Host Identifier.
• LAT Host - The Host Identifier is the LAT Class to which the session is connected.
Configuration and Management
Configuration - Display Host ID must be enabled on the Device Profile for Displays panel for
the host identifier to be displayed.
Local Printing
The Local Print feature allows you to print a screen image from any authorized CUT device to
any network, Direct, or HAP printer which is defined as a Local or Shared Printer. The local
print can be initiated by an operator or by the host as described below.
• Operator Initiated Local Print - This type of print is initiated by pressing the Print key on
a display attached to the LINCS node.
• Host Initiated Local Print - For SNA host circuits, a local print is initiated through a write
type command to a display with the WCC print bit set to 1. For BSC host circuits, the BSC
copy command can be used to transfer data from a display to a printer.
• For ASCII hosts, the ASCII Concurrent Print feature can be used to send data simultaneously
to a CUT display and a printer.
For either type of local print, the print will be directed to the printer currently assigned to the
display (displayed in column 62 on the status line). If the print cannot start immediately, one
of the following will be displayed in the Input Inhibit field on the status line.
