File Transfer
The File Transfer feature allows LINCS to successfully support file transfer programs such as
IND$FILE and FFTERM. As long as file transfer is enabled, LINCS will retrieve screen data
from the terminal when host attention keys are pressed. This allows the file transfer programs
to format the screen as desired prior to generating a host attention key.
A device may enter or exit file transfer using the Alt-X key combination. If a device is configured
for the Windowing feature, the device must be using Windowing Profile 0 in order to enter file
transfer mode.
When File Transfer is enabled, FX will appear at column 66 on the status line. Note that if the
“Time of Day” feature is enabled, the time will not be displayed on devices which have file
transfer enabled since some file transfer programs are sensitive to the data which appears on
the status line.
Configuration and Management
Configuration - File Transfer may be enabled in a displays Device Profile by setting the “PC
File transfer” field to Enable. This field governs the status of File Transfer upon IML of the
LINCS node.
Devices which are not using special file transfer programs should not enable the PC File
Transfer option. Unnecessary use of this feature may reduce performance.
Management - This feature is controlled by display operators by using the file transfer key
combination. If users are unnecessarily entering file transfer mode, you may disable or redefine
the file transfer key using the KDU or ADU utility.
Host Addressable Print
The Host Addressable Print feature allows host access to printers which are locally attached to
CUT displays which supports the HAP feature. To the host, the printer appears as any other
printer which is directly attached to the LINCS node. In addition to the host access, displays
may also access the HAP printers when using the Local Print feature.
3472-type coax displays support the attachment of a host addressable printer. Refer to the
appropriate 3472 documentation for information on how to enable the HAP support on the
display. Refer to the table in the section “ASCII Printers” to see which ASCII displays support
attachment of a host addressable printer.
Configuration and Management
Configuration - HAP is enabled by defining a HAP Profile in a displays Device Profile. The
HAP profile defines the printer characteristics to be used by the displays printer session. Note
