In the current release of the FTP Server feature, LINCS does not support a directory service
similar to DOS, so it is necessary to logon with various names to access different subdirectories.
The following user names may be used when logging on.
• SYSTEM - allows access system microcode directory.
• MERGE - allows user to store new microcode for microcode upgrade.
• DUMP - allows user to retrieve DUMP disks files.
• BACKUP - allows user to access microcode backup directory.
• RPB - provides access to the Record/Playback directory
• 1683 - allows access to the 1683 microcode distribution directory.
For logging onto the FTP Server feature, it is advisable that a password be used for the sake of
security. The password used for all directories except the 1683 directory is the LINCS supervisor
password configured on the General Options panel. If no supervisor password is configured,
then any string will be accepted.
The password used to access the 1683 directory is 1683.
In early versions of LINCS 4.0, logon names and passwords must be given in upper case,
which is no longer necessary.
A list of FTP commands that LINCS supports can be obtained by submitting a request for help
to the server. This can be requested by using the FTP “quote” command (“quote help”).
Following is a list of commands that LINCS does and does not support.
Access Control Commands
• USER - User Name is supported.
• PASS - Password is supported.
• ACCT - Account is not implemented.
• CWD - Change working directory does not allow access.
• CDUP - Change to parent directory does not allow access.
• SMNT - Structure Mount is not implemented.
• REIN - Reinitialize is supported.
• QUIT - Logout is supported.
Transfer Parameter Commands
• PORT - Data Port is supported.
• PASV - Passive is supported.
• TYPE - Representation Type is supported with the following parameters.
