Alt-b to jump to session b. When you change sessions, your old foreground session will remain
intact and still be active from the perspective of the host.
This is very useful when you have started a host transaction and are waiting for a response.
You can jump to another session and start some other transaction while you are waiting for
your response.
Session identifiers are displayed at column 5 on the status line to help you keep track of which
session is in the foreground at a given point in time. The session identifier is the session letter,
a through j.

The Status line is also used to alert you when a background session has been updated. When
this occurs, an arrow followed by the background session identifier will be displayed at columns
6 and 7 on the status line. If multiple background sessions are updated, the session which is
closest to your foreground session will be displayed. For example, if session a were the
foreground session, and sessions b and d were updated, the status line would display >b.

MLS on Printers
Printers can be assigned up to ten sessions, but unlike displays, only one of the sessions can be
“busy for host” at a given point in time. The session that is currently “busy for host” will be
referred to as the foreground session. A printer session is automatically changed to the
foreground session when it becomes “busy for host”.
The term “busy for host” is slightly different for the various host types as described below.
• SNA Host Circuit - If configured for between bracket printer sharing, a printer is “busy for
host” when one of its sessions is in bracket. If no between bracket sharing is allowed, the
printer is “busy for host” when one of its sessions is bound (that is, in an LU-LU session).
• BSC Host Circuit - When using the BSC protocol, the printer is “busy for host” when one
of its sessions is selected or when data has been written to the printer but has not yet been
printed. If the BSC host selects and writes to the printer without printing the data, the
printer will remain busy for host” until the BSC host selects the printer and prints the data.
• ASCII Host - Once an ASCII host has written data to a printer, the printer remains “busy for
host” until the inactivity timeout timer that is configured for the ASCII host port expires.
If a host tries to access a printer session while another session on the printer if “busy for host”,
LINCS responds in the same manner as if the printer were busy doing a local print (no sense
