9.9.7 Fuel Level Indicator Troubleshooting

Verify fuel quantity
level in tank.
Fuel level indicator reads
EMPTY while operating.
Fill fuel tank.
Verify battery voltage on
circuit 17 (GRY). Refer to
Section 9.7.6, “Main
Electrical Schematic.”
Disconnect fuel level sender
and check resistance at
fuel sender.
If OK

Replace sending unit in tank.
If OK
Check ground circuit 2A (BLK) wire for continuity:
Full = 31 ohms
One-Half = 101 ohms
Empty = 255 ohms
Refer to Section 9.7.6, “Main Electrical Schematic.”
Replace instrument cluster.

electrical circuit, ALWAYS
begin by checking the
following:
1. Fuses.
2. Battery for proper charge.
3. All connections relating to
circuit are clean and tight.
4. Check instrument cluster
bulbs for proper function.
