This stops any sound which is playing immediately. If the sound which is playing is ‘unsteppable’, then using

this command to stop the sound will allow you to then start a new sound playing. Once stopped, the sound ‘info’ line
will change to reflect the status of the sound file.

Daylight Savings Time

At the first prompt, you can

Y) Tell the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 to automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time (DST). It will use the

rules you have set for the part of the world you live in, or when the U.S. Congress changes it again
instead of doing something substantial about energy policy.

N) Tell the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 NOT to adjust for Daylight Savings Time (DST).

C) Change the rules to use for Daylight Savings time. Rules for the DST allow you to set:

1) the stating month

2) ending month

3) what time of day the transition will take place (typically 2:00 am)

4) when in the starting or ending month the transitions take place. You can select:

a) A specific date within the month for the transition. Valid dates are one through 28,

29, 30, or 31 (depending on the length of the month selected).

b) The day of week (DOW) for the transition (typically this is on a Sunday). Valid en-

tries are 1 (Sunday) through 7 (Saturday). Once you select the DOW, you can
then select the:

1) First occurrence of the selected DOW in the month.

2) Second occurrence of the selected DOW in the month.

3) Third occurrence of the selected DOW in the month.

4) Fourth occurrence of the selected DOW in the month.

5) Last occurrence of the selected DOW in the month.

If the DST starting month is after the DST ending month, then the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 as-

sumes that it is located in the Southern Hemisphere, and the DST is active at the opposite time of
year as it would be in the Northern Hemisphere. When Daylight Savings Time is active in the
Southern hemisphere, it will display ‘sdst’ before the time instead of the usual ‘dst’ displayed in the
Northern Hemisphere.

Adjusting the DST rules will also enable DST when you are through.

Z) Change century. The GPS and RTC chip don’t provide the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 with the century.

Assuming any of us survive past the year 2099, this allows you to set the century to ‘21’ for the
next hundred years, then ‘22’ for the next hundred years, and so on. The Sd-50/8 and Sd-50/40
have been programmed to support the current Gregorian calendar rules for leap years until the
year 9,999.
