Sd-50/0, Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 Hardware Config.
Just about all the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 configuration is done using the ‘Mp3 Config.exe’ program, Se-
rial port using GilderTerm, or during the AutoDownload of the shows from PC•MACs. The only hardware
configuration options are:
1) ʻ
ʼ Internal/External Power
This switch (located on the bottom of the Sd-50/xx) is used to switch the power from the
connector be-
tween an internal source, and an external source that must be fed from outside the Sd-50/xx. For a Sd-50/0, this is
the trigger input to the .Mp3/.wav player, and either position can be used as determined by your application. For
the Sd-50/xx, this is also the first or last Show Control output channel. Only the ‘Internal’ position should be used.
2) RS-422/Optoisolated
This switch (located on the bottom of the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40) is used to switch the
between using RS-422 input signal levels to an optoisolated current loop. If receiving
, you must use the
‘RS-422’ setting. For
, you must use the ‘optoisolated’ position. For
or
, you can
use either position, but ‘RS-422’ is normally used unless you need to optically isolate the input.
3) Right Volume Control
4) Left Volume Control
These two potentiometers (located on the front of the Sd-50/xx) are used to adjust the audio level for the two
outputs from the Sd-50/xx. They control both the line level outputs, and the on board amplifier’s output levels.
The volume control pots on the front of the Sd-50/xx’s are downstream of the
set inside
the ‘Mp3 Config.exe’ program. This allows the volume to be adjusted to anywhere BELOW the limit set in the ‘Mp3
Config.exe’ program.
In most applications, you will use the
set inside the ‘Mp3 Config.exe’ program to set
the MAXIMUM possible output from the Sd-50/xx’s. This should be set to a level which is loud, but not so loud that
it will destroy the speakers and other downstream gear (or listeners).
Use a small ‘trimmer’ screwdriver to adjust the volume control pots.
The the volume control pots are smaller than you.
Do not use a big screwdriver on them.
Do not apply too much force.
They will break!
