When this mode is enabled, any valid DMX-512 will take over the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40. The eight (Sd-
50/8) or forty (Sd-50/40) Show Control outputs, ServoMotors, and audio volume and trigger control can all
be controlled directly from the received DMX-512.
DMX-512, when enabled, has the highest priority of all inputs to the Show Control side of the Sd-50/8
or Sd-50/40. DMX-512 arriving will override the Show data stored on the flash and serial RealTime up-
dates.
If the DMX-512 signal drops out, the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 will return to normal operations after a delay
of about ten seconds.
If the DMX-512 received by the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 contains the GilderChecksum in bytes 256 and
257, the unit will automatically lock to it. Once received, the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 will continue to expect to
receive the GilderChecksum until it is reset. The GilderChecksum will keep the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 from
updating its outputs on any frame of data that has any errors in it.
!
Enable DMX-512 Checksums
When the Enable DMX-512 Checksums checkbox is enabled, DMX-512 will be transmitted
with the GilderChecksum in bytes 256 and 257. These will keep any compatible GilderEquipment
from updating their outputs if there is any error in the received DMX-512 data. If controlling any
Gilderfluke & Company equipment, you should always keep the DMX-512 checksums enabled.

MIDI input has a lower priority than RealTime updates received through the RS-232 serial port. If the ‘MIDI
Notes Trigger Animation Playback’ checkbox is OFF, then MIDI takes precedence over Show Control data
stored in the Flash memory.
When this mode is enabled, any valid MIDI will take over the Show Control side of the Sd-50/8 or Sd-
50/40. Show Control outputs can be controlled, start and level control signals sent to the .Mp3/.wav player
through the incoming MIDI.
If the MIDI signal drops out, the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 will return to normal operations after a delay of
about ten seconds.

MIDI Notes Trigger Animation Playback
MIDI has two different modes of operation on the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40:
1) The first, selected if this checkbox is NOT checked, is used if you want to use the Sd-50/8 or Sd-
50/40 as an output device wholly controlled by the MIDI coming in. Once a valid MIDI note has
been received, the DMX/MIDI/Serial LED will light and stay lit until ten seconds after the MIDI has
gone away. Starting with the first MIDI note set by the ‘Animation First Note Number:
a) The first eight (for a Sd-50/8) or forty (Sd-50/40) MIDI notes are sent to the Show Control
Outputs.
b) The next eight notes are sent to the ‘MPU Control’ Channel. These can be used to start
and stop .Mp3/.wav player, and ramp the audio output between normal, muted and half
muted levels.
c) The remaining notes are used to select SoundFiles on the .Mp3/.wav player directly. The
first of these notes selects the first .mp3/.wav SoundFile, and so on. If RealTime Audio
