IR mode and the majority of settings are entered using the Mp3 Configurator program, just like
normal, and the shows are programmed using PC•MACs, just like normal. You will need to pro-
gram additional Shows/SoundFiles to allow for each language used.
The Multilingual mode is set up using GilderTerm to talk to the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40 directly.
On the second page of the configuration menu, the number of languages to support is entered into
eeFlag5:
The number of languages to use is entered in HEXadecimal into eeFlag5. Valid values are
2 through 15 (02h through 0Fh). Values of 0 or 1 are ignored.
The Show/SoundFile number requested (from the IR serial port) is multiplied by the number of
languages (from eeFlag5). The result is then added to the input from the J8 port (unused inputs
from the J8 port are masked off based on the number of languages used).
The actual formula is (IR Request-1) x (number of languages) + (Language number requested
on J8 port+1) = Show/SoundFile number played
For 2 languages, only one input on the J8 port is used: J8 input A_green_Input_0 selects
which language plays (open = language a, closed = language b)
For 3-4 languages, two inputs on the J8 port are used: J8 input A_green_Input_0 and
B_red_Input_1 selects which language plays (0=a, 1=b, 2=c, 3=d)
For 5-8 languages, three inputs on the J8 port are used: J8 input A_green_Input_0,
B_red_Input_1 and C_Blue_Input_2 selects which language plays (0=a, 1=b, 2=c, 3=d,
4=e, 5=f, 6=g, 7=h)
For 9-15 languages, all four inputs on the J8 port are used: J8 input A_green_Input_0,
B_red_Input_1, C_Blue_Input_2 and D_White_Input_3 selects which language plays (0=a,
1=b, 2=c, 3=d, 4=e, 5=f, 6=g, 7=h, 8=i, 9=j, 10=k, 11=l, 12=m, 13=n, 14=o, 15=p)
Example #1: If 4 languages are needed, the value '04' would be entered into eeFlag5
1a)
If a binary value of '2' is entered into the J8 port to select language 'c', then an IR re-
quest for SoundFile #1 results in Show/SoundFile #3 being requested and played.
1b)
If the IR Trigger request Show/SoundFile #2 be played, then Show/SoundFile #7 will
be requested and played.
1c)
If the IR Trigger request Show/SoundFile #10 be played, then Show/SoundFile #39 will
be requested and played.
Example #2: Under the same conditions as in the example #1 above, but with the 'language
select' inputs set to language 'b':
2a) IR request for Show/SoundFile #1 results Show/SoundFile #2 requested and played.
2b) IR request for Show/SoundFile #2 results Show/SoundFile #6 requested and played.
2c)
IR request for Show/SoundFile #10 results Show/SoundFile #38 requested and
played.
Example #3: Another way to look at it is (again using the four languages from example #1):
3a)
An IR request for Show/SoundFile #1 will play Show/SoundFIles 1, 2, 3 or 4, depend-
ing on the 'language select' inputs to the J8 port.
