Depending on the type of Sd-50/xx, this connection can serve a number of different functions:

Sd-50/0: These pins are used to connect to the eight optically isolated trigger inputs which are used to

select SoundFiles, start, mute, half mute, pause, or unmute the .Mp3/.wav player. What each of
these pins will do is set using the

Input Setup

tab in the Mp3 Config.exe’ program.

Sd-50/8: This connector is used for eight optically isolated trigger inputs AND eight Show Control Out-

puts.

These inputs can be used to trigger, mute, unmute, etc. the .Mp3/.wav player, or to request

and play shows from the Show control half of the Sd-50/8 or Sd-50/40.

These are not normally used as inputs on Sd-50/8s or Sd-50/40s. They are typically config-

ured not to do anything using the

Input Setup

tab in the Mp3 Config.exe’ program. The

Animation

‘Virtual’ Audio Trigger Input

channel is used instead for controlling the Audio Playback (using the

Animation Input Setup

tab in the Mp3 Config.exe’ program). This leaves all eight of these pins

available for Show Control Outputs.

An exception to this is when you need to use an actual switch input independent of the show

that is being run to mute or stop the audio. An example of this would be a switch input to half-mute
the audio during PA announcements. The input to the .Mp3/.wav player is configured for the de-
sired function using the

Input Setup

tab in the Mp3 Config.exe’ program. The corresponding Show

Control output is usually programmed so that it never goes active, so that it does not interfere with
the operation of the .Mp3/.wav player. If the Show Control output does go active, it will have the
same effect as an externally attached switch would have.

These eight inputs can be used to select and play individual shows using a individual bits or

binary patterns on the inputs. They are used for starting shows only when more than the four

J8

inputs are needed.

The individual bits of the ‘" J6’ port can also be selected to use as ServoMotor PWM outputs.

When a pin used for ServoMotor PWM outputs, it is unavailable for either input to trigger sounds
and shows, or as a standard Show Control Output.

Sd-50/40: This connector is also used as the optically isolated trigger inputs the .Mp3/.wav player, and

the last eight of the forty Show Control outputs. Other than that, it is identical to a Sd-50/8.

!

Outputs via the ʻ¼ J6ʼ port

The eight pins of the ‘" J6’ port can be used as digital Show Control output for the on/off con-

trol of solenoid valves, relays, lights or anything else that can be controlled by an electrical signal.
In every way the ‘" J6’ port outputs are identical to the normal ‘

J6

port found on the Sd-50/40.

Details on the connection can be found there.
