Figure 12-25 illustrates the location of the IRIG and RS-485 terminals and the pin assignments for an RS-
232 connector. Pin assignments are identical for both RS-232 connectors.

Updating Insertion Guide in S1 Case
The insertion guide in S1 cases for BE1-851 relays was modified in 2008 to accommodate a relay
hardware change. Before inserting a newer BE1-851 relay into an old S1 style case, the insertion guide
inside the case must be updated.
CAUTION
Failure to update the insertion guide will most likely damage the relay.
Views (looking into the case) of the insertion guide before and after the update are shown in Figure
12-26.
