8 Operation
Muting lamps must be positioned outside the danger zone in such a way
that the machine operator can see the muting lamps from any standard
position, whenever the muting function is being performed.
8.2.3 Initial press stroke

When the initial press stroke occurs after the machine is switched on, a
function test must be carried out on the PSENvip, using the test piece.
 Set standard protected field mode.
 Operate the foot switch to initiate the press stroke.
 Use the test piece to carry out the function test (see Chapter 7, "Func-
tion test of the safety device").
8.2.4 Measure bending angle

Prerequisites for bending angle measurement:
 The bending angle measurement can always be requested if the
PSENvip is in NORMAL OPERATION mode. The measured value is
shown on the display.
 The appropriate protected field mode must be set for the bending
function when bending angle measurement is activated. For example,
when measuring the bending angle on a box shape, the "Box bend-
ing" or "Box bending with back gauge" protected field mode must be
set before bending angle measurement is activated. Any subsequent
change to the input signals Protected field mode 1/Protected field
mode 2
will be ignored.
 Additional information is only available if the angles to be measured
are set to ACTIVE in the MEASUREMENT menu (see "Commission-
ing" chapter, under "Set parameters for bending angle"):
– Bending angle is monitored to check that it stays within prescribed
tolerances
– Indication by LED
NOTICE
Bending angle measurement can be activated in any motion
phase of the press brake during normal operation (NORMAL
OPERATION
status). Please note that when bending angle
measurement is activated, the OSSDs are always interrupted,
causing the press brake to stop. For this reason, bending angle
measurement should generally be activated once the bending
process has ended, when the press brake is at bottom dead
centre.
