16.7 Broadcast Storm Control
Broadcast storm control limits the number of broadcast, multicast and destination lookup
failure (DLF) packets the switch receives per second on the ports. When the maximum number
of allowable broadcast, multicast and/or DLF packets is reached per second, the subsequent
packets are discarded. Enable this feature to reduce broadcast, multicast and/or DLF packets in
your network.
1 In the Device Panel list, select a device and then right-click.
2 Click Configuration > Ethernet Port Configuration > Broadcast Storm Ctrl..
3 Select a device and the port(s) to which you want to apply this configuration.

DESCRIPTION
Active
Select Active to enable broadcast storm control.
Note: For GS-2024, configure rate limiting settings in the Switch
Configuration: Switch Setup screen. Refer to
Rate
Specify the traffic a port receives in kilobits per second (Kbps).
•
If you enter a number between 64 and 1728, the switch automatically rounds the
number down to the nearest multiple of 64.
•
If you enter a number between 1729 and 1999, the rate is fixed at 1792.
•
If you enter a number between 2000 and 103999, the switch rounds the number
down to the nearest multiple of 1000.
•
On a Gigabit Ethernet/ Mini-GBIC port, the switch rounds a number down to the
nearest multiple of 8000 for a number between 104000 and 1000000.
Broadcast
Select this option and specify how many broadcast packets the port receives per second.
Multicast
Select this option and specify how many multicast packets the port receives per second.
