66 Loading and Unloading

Set Up the Data Collector for Communication

After setting the computer communication options, you must set the data
collector communication options. The baud rate setting in the data collector
must match the baud rate setting in Emonitor. The baud rate for the Enpac Ex
is set from the Instrument Setup screen.

1. Power up the Enpac Ex by pressing the ON/OFF key.

2. Select Instrument Setup from the Main Menu and press the

READ/OK key. The Setup screen appears.

3. Highlight Baud Rate and press the RIGHT ARROW key.

4. Select the desired baud rate and press the LEFT ARROW key to save

your choice.

5. Tap the Apply button when you are finished.

Connecting the Data Collector and Computer

To load and unload data to the Enpac Ex, you must connect the data collector
to your computer with a 9-way plug RS-232 cable.

1. Locate the selected serial port (such as COM1) on the back of your

computer and insert the connector into it. Tighten the thumbscrews to
ensure a reliable connection. Use an adapter if necessary.

WARNING

Do not connect the Enpac Ex to a PC using the RS-232
interface unless the area is known to be nonhazardous.

To highlight an option:

• press the UP or DOWN

ARROW key

• tap the option on the

touchscreen with the stylus
