B. Change Fuel Filter
(500 Hour Intervals)
The fuel filter must be changed at shorter intervals with water evidence or
contaminated fuel.
1. Unlatch, unlock and open the engine cover.
2. Clean the outside surfaces of the filter assembly and base.
3. Loosen the drain cock at the bottom of the canister (Figure 76) and
allow the fuel to drain into a suitable container. Dispose of properly.
4. Unscrew the canister from the base, dispose of properly.
5. Lightly lubricate the new fuel filter gasket with clean No. 2 diesel
fuel. If the engine has been completely run out of fuel, prefill the
canister with clean No. 2 diesel fuel.
6. Screw the canister on the base hand tight.
7. Remove air from the fuel system (see “Bleeding Fuel System”).
8. Close, latch and lock the engine cover.
