Sets the banner on the chassis.

SYNOPSIS

motd --set string

motd --show

DESCRIPTION

Use this command to set the banner on the chassis.

The banner is a string of alphanumeric characters. It is displayed before you log in to a switch.

NOTES

The execution of this command is subject to Virtual Fabric or Admin Domain restrictions that may be in
place. Refer to Chapter 1, "Using Fabric OS Commands" and Appendix A, "Command Availability" for
details.

OPERANDS

This command has the following optional operands:

--set string

Specify a text string of alphanumeric characters to be displayed before login. The
string must be enclosed in double quotation marks. Spaces are allowed. The
maximum length is 116 characters.

The message displays either before or after the login prompt, depending on the
SSH client implementation. Fabric OS does not control when the MOTD displays.

--show

Displays the chassis-wide banner.

--help

Displays the command usage.

EXAMPLES

To set a chassis-level banner for the switch:

switch:admin> motd --set "This is a \

chassis-level banner. It displays before the login."

To display the banner:

switch:admin> motd --show

This is a chassis-level banner. It displays before the login.
