Example master hosts file entries for two SANs
For example:
192.168.100.157
SAN1_UIM1 SAN1_XP1_UIMFC
SAN1_XP2_UIMFC
4. Use the following steps to type the entry for the UIM-SAN-FCIP Fibre Channel
streaming network interface
a. On a single line, enter the IP address for the Fibre Channel network interface
connected to the FC IP network.
b. Insert a few spaces, then type the UIM-SAN-FCIP host name followed by the
_fc0 suffix. (NOTE: The suffix uses the zero character, not the letter ‘o’.)
For example:
192.168.230.157
SAN1_UIM1_fc0
c. Insert a few more spaces, then type all Profile platform host names assigned to
this UIM-SAN-FCIP. Use the Profile host name followed by the _fc0 suffix.
For example:
192.168.230.157
SAN1_UIM1_fc0 SAN1_XP1_fc0 SAN1_XP2_fc0
5. If you modified the Profile XP platform host names as described in
names in the Open SAN” on page 82
, you must revise those entries in the host file
now.
6. Save the master hosts file and exit Notepad.
7. Copy the new master hosts file to all network devices in the Open SAN system
including FSMs, Profile XP platforms, other UIM-SAN-FCIPs, and standalone
Profile platforms in the facility that proxy to the UIM.
c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
NOTE: Errors in this configuration step will render your media exchange network
inoperable. Take great care to enter all information correctly, then recheck for
errors.
