Appendix A Upgrading Existing Profile Systems for Deployment with the UIM-DIS-GEIP
Update Profile XP (PVS Series) System Software
“Software requirements” on page 20
to determine the Profile System
Software version required for UIM 2.x.x, then use the following steps to determine
the current Profile System Software version. Update Profile System Software if
needed.
Use this the following steps to verify and update the system software if needed.
1. Click
Start | Programs | Profile Applications | Configuration Manager
and check the
version number displayed at
Help | About
.
“Software requirements” on page 20
to determine the required Profile
System Software version.
3. Install the Profile XP System Software version required. Be sure to follow the
installation instructions found in the release notes you received with the software.
Enable Fibre Channel network TCP checksums
When configuring Profile XP Media Platform, you must enable TCP checksums on
the Fibre Channel Network adapter. For instructions, refer to the Fibre Channel
Networking chapter in the Profile XP Media Platform System Guide.
Remove the optional 100BT Video Network Ethernet adapter
If your Profile XP Media Platform has the optional 100BT Video Network Ethernet
adapter installed, it must be removed for operation with the IP UIM. Refer to the
Profile XP Service Manual for instructions on removing the adapter.
NOTE: You must also remove the “
Profile XP hosts file and all the hosts files in the facility.
Install dual port Ethernet board (optional)
If you are deploying the Profile XP platform using redundant Ethernet topology, the
Profile XP system must have the dual port Ethernet adapter installed. This adapter is
orderable from Thomson Grass Valley. Use the following procedures to install the
optional dual port Ethernet board in Profile XP Media Platform.
Move boards
When you install the dual port Ethernet board in the Profile XP Media Platform, it is
recommended that you install it according to the following table of slot assignments.
These slot assignments allow for optimal performance. You might have to move an
existing board, such as the RS-422 board, in order to follow these recommendations.
If you move or install any of the boards listed in the table (except for the dual port
Ethernet board), you must re-install Profile System Software, as described in
“Upgrade Profile System Software” on page 153
