A
Upgrading Existing Profile Systems
for Deployment with the UIM-DIS-GEIP
This chapter contain procedures for preparing an existing Profile system for operation
with the IP UIM.
This chapter includes:
•
“Preparing the Profile XP Media Platform”
•
“Preparing the Profile Video Server (PDR family)”
NOTE: The procedures in this section require that you be logged in to Windows NT
as administrator or as a user with administrator-level privileges.
Preparing the Profile XP Media Platform
Profile XP Media Platforms ordered from the factory for deployment with the IP UIM
are ready to install and configure. However, if you are redeploying existing Profile
systems for operation with the IP UIM, you may need to upgrade and prepare the
Profile system using procedures in this appendix.
After preparing the Profile XP platform for operation, refer to
UIM-DIS-GEIP Installation: Standalone Profile Storage on page 35
to install the IP
UIM-DIS-GEIP.

Install Windows NT Service Pack 6a
Profile System Software requires Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 6a.
To install the service pack, do the following:
1. On the Windows NT CD-ROM that shipped with the Profile XP, locate the Service
Pack 6 setup file. The following is an example of a Service Pack 6 setup file:
sp6i386-128bit.exe
2. Run the setup program and follow the instructions on the screens to install the
Windows NT Service Pack.
3. When prompted, reboot the Profile XP Media Platform.
