Installing the disk image on a replacement UIM
Part 5: Update IP UIM System Software
NOTE: This step is for IP UIM only. If you restoring a UIM-SAN-GEIP or
UIM-SAN-FCIP, proceed to
“Part 6 for Dell 2650/2850: Setup Ethernet port
teams” on page 135 or “Part 6 for Dell 1950: Setup Ethernet port teams” on
page 136 .
The Factory default image may not have the correct version of UIM system software
for your system. Obtain your copy of the UIM system software, then perform the
procedures in
“Installing UIM System Software” on page 21 . Afterward, proceed to
“Part 6 for Dell 2650/2850: Setup Ethernet port teams” or “Part 6 for Dell 1950: Setup
Ethernet port teams” .
Part 6 for Dell 2650/2850: Setup Ethernet port teams
• Do not do this procedure if your UIM is based on a Dell 1950 server platform.
Instead, do the next procedure, “Part 6 for Dell 1950: Setup Ethernet port teams” .
• Do this procedure if your UIM is based on a Dell 2650 or 2850 server platform.
Use this procedure to create the Ethernet port adapter fault tolerance (AFT) teams.
This procedure uses the Intel PROSet configuration utility.
1. Start Intel PROSet using the desktop icon.
2. Clear the Show the tray icon option if it is selected.
3. Select Action | Add to Team | Create New Team .
4. Select Adapter Fault Tolerance option from the Teaming wizard, and click Next .
5. If your UIM is based on a Dell 2650 server platform, select the first two Intel®
PRO/1000MT Quad Port Server Adapters listed in the window.
NOTE: Intel® PRO/1000MT Quad Port Server Adapter, and Intel® PRO/1000MT
Quad Port Server Adapter #2 should be the ONLY check-boxes that are
CHECKED.
6. If your UIM is based on a Dell 2850 server platform, select the two Intel Pro/
1000MT Network Connections listed in the window.
NOTE: Intel® PRO/1000MT Network Connection and Intel® PRO/1000MT
Network Connection 2 should be the ONLY check-boxes that are CHECKED.
7. Click Next , then Finish to create the team.
8. Right-click on the new Team #0 entry, and select Rename Team .
9. Type Control Team in the rename team window, and click OK . Ensure that the
team is renamed.
10.Right-click on the first adapter listed below Control Team\Member Adapters and
select Preferred Primary .
11. Right-click on the second adapter listed below Control Team\Member Adapters
and select Preferred Secondary .
