Step 9: Test the streaming performance
Use the following steps to test the UIM’s transfer performance over the 1000BT
streaming interface. This test verifies that the UIM can transfer data at specified rates.
You’ll first get, then put a Profile media file. Transferring longer files will give you
a better idea of the system’s performance.
1. On a PC connected via 1000BT to the UIM, open a command prompt window, then
use the following syntax to ftp a media file. Insert your own host names and file
names. Text you enter is in bold. The put test uses the file transferred in the
previous test.
C:\TEMP>ftp SAN1_XP1_he0
Connected to SAN1_XP1_he0.
220 UIM FTP Server (2, 0, 9, 1) ready.
User (XP1_he0:(none)): movie
230 Aspect successfully set to MOVIE.
ftp> bin
200 Type set to IMAGE.
ftp> get /explodedFile/EXT:/default/clip1 nul:
200 PORT command okay.
150 Opening MOVIE mode data connection for /explodedFile/EXT:/
default/clip1.
250 Transfer complete.
ftp: xxxxxxx bytes received in x.xxSeconds xxxx.xxKbytes/sec.
ftp> put clip1_he0.gxf /explodedFile/EXT:/default/clip1_back_he0
200 PORT command okay.
150 Opening MOVIE mode data connection for /explodedFile/EXT:/
default/#1_back_he0.
250 Transfer complete.
ftp: xxxxxxx bytes sent in x.xxSeconds xxxx.xxKbytes/sec.
ftp> bye
221 Goodbye.
2. Perform one of the following steps:
• If the test data rates approach the specification, all software and hardware
components in the UIM are correctly configured.
• If the test data rates are too low in one or both directions:
- Set the connection priorities as described in
.
- Set the TCPWindowSize for all networking ports as described in
up TCP/IP Scaling” on page 141
NOTE: Put operations are typically limited by the system drive on the PC, and will
rarely exceed 25MB/sec.
• If performance is still less than anticipated, contact Grass Valley Product
Support. See
“Before calling product support” on page 111
•
If you have a problem: UIM-SAN-GEIP
Use the following steps to help determine faults that can cause UIM transfers to fail.
