Chapter 6 Service Information
Creating a system disk image
Use the procedure to create a system disk image (the C: partition) and store the image
file on the D: partition. You can use this disk image to restore the complete software
on the system disk, including all the current system settings. This simplifies the
process of troubleshooting and correcting software faults.
To create a system disk image and store the image on the D: partition, do the
following:
1. Insert the UIM Restore Program CD. If there are multiple CDs in the set, insert the
last volume. Then restart the machine.
The machine boots from the disc. The Acronis True Image program loads.
2. At the startup screen, select
True Image Server (Full Version)
.
The Acronis True Image program loads.
The Acronis True Image main window appears.
3. In the Acronis True Image main window, click
Backup
.
The Create Backup Wizard opens.
4. On the Welcome page, click
Next
.
The Select Backup Type page opens.
5. Select
The entire disk contents or individual partition
and then click
Next
.
The Partitions Selection page opens.
6. Select the partition labeled
C Drive
and then click
Next
.
The Backup Archive Location page opens.
7. In the tree view select the partition labeled
D Drive
and then enter the name of the
image file you are creating. It is recommended that you incorporate a portion of the
UIM name and the current date in the file name so that you can easily identify the
disk image for the UIM. Click
Next
.
The Backup Creation Options page opens.
8. Do not change any settings on this page. Click
Next
.
The Archive Comment page opens.
9. If desired, enter image comments, such as the date, time, and software versions
contained on the image you are creating. Click
Next
.
The “…ready to proceed…” page opens.
10. Verify that you are creating an image from the C: partition and writing to the D:
partition. Click
Proceed
.
The Operation Progress page opens and displays progress.
11. When a “Backup archive creation has been successfully completed” message
appears, click
OK
.
12. Click
Operations | Exit
to exit the Acronis True Image program.
The machine restarts automatically.
13. Remove the CD while the machine is shutting down.
