Chapter 6 Service Information
CAUTION: Do not use the system disk image you created for your own
UIM. The factory default image file on the UIM Restore Program CD
is designed to operate with replacement UIMs.
Part 1: Preparing to install the system disk image
1. If possible and if needed, backup all user data from the existing UIM system drive
before replacing it.
2. Locate the Windows operating system software license shipped with your UIM.
You’ll need the license number during this procedure.
CAUTION: If the UIM is installed in an Open SAN shared storage
system, do not connect the Fibre Channel interface to the SCSI fabric
at this time. Wait until after you have performed
Channel adapter IP driver” on page 53
. The IP driver installed by the
factory default disk image will cause Open SAN record and playout to
fail.
Part 2: Replace the system disk image
This procedure uses the UIM restore program and the factory default image file to
install the system disk image on the replacement UIM. The restore program and
default file are located on the UIM Restore Program CD-ROM. Refer to
generic rebuild CD” on page 125
.
NOTE: At any step in this procedure if a message appears asking for disc/volume,
insert CDs as prompted until you can proceed to the next step.
1. Insert the UIM Restore Program CD. If there are multiple CDs in the set, insert the
last volume. Then restart the machine.
The machine boots from the disc. The Acronis True Image program loads.
2. At the startup screen, select
True Image Server (Full Version)
.
3. Under “Pick a Task”, select
Recovery
.
The Recovery Data Wizard opens.
4. On the first page, click
Next
.
The Archive Selection page opens.
5. In the tree view expand the node for the CD ROM drive and select the image file,
then click
Next
:
The Restoration Type Selection page opens.
6. Select
Restore disks or partitions
and then click
Next
.
The Partition or Disk to Restore page opens.
7. Check the box next to
C Drive
and then click
Next
.
The Restored Partition Resizing page opens.
8. Select
No, I do not want to resize partitions
and then click
Next
.
9. The Restored Partition Location page opens.
10. Select
C Drive
and then click
Next
.
