Converting the UIM-DIS-GEIP to a UIM-SAN-GEIP
In most cases, UIM-SAN-GEIPs shipped from the factory are pre-configured for
operation in an Open SAN environment. You should verify that all the following
procedures have been accomplished, and perform any steps that are site-specific.
If you must convert the UIM-DIS-GEIP to a UIM-SAN-GEIP for deployment in an
Open SAN shared storage system, perform all the procedures in the following
sections.
Uninstall the Fibre Channel adapter IP driver
The Fibre Channel adapter IP driver must be uninstalled prior to connecting the UIM
to the Open SAN SCSI Fibre Channel switch fabric.
To uninstall the Fibre Channel adapter IP driver:
1. Power on the UIM and log on as administrator (default password: triton).
2. Right-click the My Computer desktop icon, then select
Manage
.
The Computer Management application is displayed.
3. Click on
Device Manager
.
4. Expand
Network Adapters
icon in the right hand pane.
5. Right-click the Fibre Channel Adapter device, i.e. QLogic QLA2X00 PCI Adapter,
then select
Uninstall
.
6. Accept the warning.
7. When uninstall is complete, restart the UIM.
NOTE: Now it is safe to connect the UIM-SAN-GEIP to the appropriate Fibre
Channel switch.
8. Proceed with
“Install UIM-SAN-GEIP System Software for Open SAN”
.
