Configure Profile host names & IP addresses
On each Profile or Profile XP system, use standard Windows procedures to setup the
hostname and IP address for the Ethernet and Fibre Channel adapters. Refer to the
Profile XP System Guide or Profile Family Users Manual, and Windows NT 4.0
documentation for instructions.
NOTE: You must enable TCP checksums on the Fibre Channel Network adapter.
For instructions, refer to the Fibre Channel Networking section in the Profile XP
System Guide or Profile Family Users Manual.
Test the UIM-DIS-GEIP
Stream a movie to/from the Profile XP Media Platform using FTP or a transfer
application like Profile XP Media Manager. Refer to the Profile XP Users Manual for
instructions on using Media Manager. Also refer to

Create UIM-DIS-GEIP system disk image
After verifying proper UIM-DIS-GEIP installation, you should create a backup image
of the system disk. You can use this disk image to restore the complete software on
the system disk, including all the current system settings. This simplifies the process
of troubleshooting and correcting software faults.

“Creating a system disk image” on page 126
.

Check the hosts file on each system
If you experience difficulty in completing the installation and getting the
UIM-DIS-GEIP running, the following checks might help locate the problem.
• Check Ethernet IP addresses in the system hosts file on each UIM-DIS-GEIP and
each Profile system.
• Check Fibre Channel IP addresses in the system hosts file on UIM-DIS-GEIP and
each Profile system.
• Check that Fibre Channel network adapter TCP/IP checksums are enabled on the
Profile systems. For instructions, refer to the Fibre Channel Networking section in
the Profile XP System Guide or Profile Family Users Manual.
