Chapter 4 UIM-SAN-GEIP Installation: Grass Valley Open SAN System
Connect UIM-SAN-GEIP network cables

Connect the network cables for each UIM-SAN-GEIP as shown. Be sure to consult
your Ethernet and Fibre Channel switch fabric designs as you make connections.
Refer to
“Onsite planning” on page 50 .
NOTE:
1. Ensure that the redundant and primary ports are connected to different
switches. If redundant connections are not used, unused ports are
ignored.
2. Verify that the Ethernet switches support Spanning Tree Protocol
(STP), and that the protocol is configured as described in
“Redundant
Ethernet network requirements” on page 17 .

CAUTION: Do not connect the
UIM-SAN-GEIP to the Fibre Channel switch
fabric until after you have performed
“Uninstall
the Fibre Channel adapter IP driver” on
page 53
. The IP driver will cause Open SAN
record and playout to fail.
