• SYSTEM COMMUNICATION TEST - tests modem channel connections.
• MODEM PARAMETER COMPATIBILITY TEST - tests modem parameter compatibility (this test
is currently under development).
• LAMP TEST - tests the operation of all LEDs on the front panel.
• REMOTE PORT TEST - the unit sends the ASCII characters ‘TEST’ to the remote port to test
communications (refer to Section 4.2.4.2).

S3 LAMP Press to cycle to the LAMP TEST Screen.

4.3.4.2 MODEM CHANNEL CONNECTION TEST
This screen allows the user to test communication channels between the RCS20 and all modems
connected to the system. If the test fails for one or more channels, check the parameter entries for
screens Config 0 and Config 1. The '*' indicates communication in progress, and will move between all
configured channels before the test is complete.
4.3.4.2.1 Programming steps:
1. Press to begin the test. The '*' will move from Channel 0 to all channels. ‘Y’ in the
ACTIVE Row indicates normal communication, and ‘N’ indicates communication failure between
the RCS20 and the modems. The MODEM Row lists the communication channels for each
modem.
IMPORTANT
This test is performed approximately every 30 seconds by the RCS20, and the ‘**’
may appear without pressing .
