4.3.1.5 MODEM 9 / BACKUP 2 MODE
This screen allows the user to select the mode operation for Channel 9. The channel 9 modem can
operate as a prime, a preemptable prime, or a dedicated backup.
4.3.1.5.1 Programming steps:
1. Press
table will be updated immediately. In this mode, Channel 9 cannot be used as a prime channel,
and Modem 9 will not be connected to up/down converters.
2. Press
parameter table will be updated immediately. In this mode, Channel 9 will normally carry low
priority data, but will drop the low priority data channel and serve as a backup if any of the
modems on the dedicated Prime Channels 1 tthrough 8 fail.
3. Press
table will be updated immediately. In this mode, Channel 9 will be connected to an up/down
converter and will work the same as the other dedicated prime channels. Also, Channel 9 data
and IF will be switched to the backup channel if the modem connected to Channel 9 fails.
