4.3.1.11 AUTO MODE BACKUP 1 ASSIGNMENT PROGRAM

The Auto Mode Backup 1 Assignment Program Subscreen allows the user to program the RCS20
Backup Channel 1 to provide automatic switching for any or all of the prime channel modems. The
following letter codes indicate backup assignment information for Backup Channel 1 on this screen:

M - indicates that a modulator is programmed for automatic backup and is currently in hot
standby.

D - indicates that a demodulator is programmed for automatic backup and is currently in hot
standby.

m - indicates that a modulator is programmed for automatic backup.

d - indicates that a demodulator is programmed for automatic backup.

B - indicates a modulator or demodulator is currently backed up.

4.3.1.11.1 Programming steps:

1. Press  or  to move the blinking cursor the channel to be programmed.
2. Press to switch from ' ' , to 'm', to 'd' to 'md' or vice-versa. The independent

switching modes 'm' and 'd' will not be available if a channel is programmed for linked switching.

o A blank (' ') indicates a prime channel is not assigned to Backup Channel 2.
o 'm' indicates the modulator only is assigned to backup 2.
o 'd' indicates the demodulator only is assigned to backup 2.
o 'md' indicates the modulator and demodulator is assigned to Backup Channel 2.

3. Select the desired Backup Channel 2 automatic backup assignments for each prime channel.
4. Press or to abort programming (no switch parameters changed).
5. Press to load the information on the screen into the Switch Parameter Table.
