Result Codes are the 1-10 character alphanumeric codes that provide detailed information on how
the candidate match was made. Successfully geocoded candidates begin with either: S or M (street
geocode), Z (postcode geocode), or G (geographic geocode). See
for a complete explanation of Result Codes.
Match Codes and Location Codes give you a more granular and detailed representation of geocode
quality. When used together, these codes provide a very effective means of evaluating the accuracy
and quality of close match candidates. The Match Codes and Location Codes are described in this
appendix (

Examine and compare Result Codes, Match Codes, and Location Codes for a comprehensive view
of candidate quality. Result Codes can be used independently. See
for complete coverage of Result Codes. Match Codes and Location Codes should be
used together to provide a clear picture of candidate quality.
Following are several examples that illustrate how Result Codes, Match Codes, and Location Codes
can be used to evaluate candidate quality.

Good Match Code but Result Code and Location Code quality is low. Consider the following
input example.

Using Standard Match Mode, this returns the following close match candidate:
