Master Standardization versus Reference Standardization
Vision provides two standardization methods: Reference Standardization and Master Standardization.
Reference Standardization is described in the Diagnostics section of this manual.
To avoid confusion the following table lists major differences between Reference Standardization and
Master Standardization:
Property
Reference Standardization Master
Standardization
Supported by Metrohm
NIRSystems instruments
Laboratory reflectance
systems, XDS Process
All systems
Standardization algorithm
Photometric offset correction
using a suitable standard to
achieve "absolute
reflectance".
Photometric offset correction
at any reflectance or
transmittance level with
optional scaling
Standardization correction
storage
In the analyzer's PROM
In the Project or Library
database
Standardization type
Global, one correction for all
methods marked as reference
standardized
Local, various products or
projects can have different
corrections

DCM’S are marked as such:
standardized or not-
standardized.
