2.1.4 Routine Analysis Mode
Routine Analysis mode includes functions related to the routine acquisition and storage of data, and
qualitative or quantitative predictions, such as:
• Operations Method configuration
• Real time analysis
• Stored data analysis
• Report generation
• Results storage and management
2.2 Major Concepts
2.2.1 Databases
Vision software keeps all operational and configuration data in databases. There are several types of
databases involved in the software.
Security Database
The security database contains all the information necessary to recognize multiple users and assigns
to each of them the proper access to the software. In particular, this database contains user IDs,
passwords, security access levels and user preferences information.
Project Database
The project database is password protected and contains all spectral and constituent information
needed for qualitative or quantitative model development.
Library Database
The library database contains qualitative models and pointers to spectra in the appropriate project
databases.
Diagnostics Database
This database stores results of instrument diagnostics.
2.2.2 Data Collection Method
Data Collection Method (DCM) defines all instrument specifications (instrument model, module and
amplifier type, number of scans) and selected performance test parameters (like pass/fail limits). A
project must have at least one DCM. Data Collection Methods are not shared between projects. The
user is prompted to define a DCM every time a new project is created.
A single project can have many DCMs, and a project database can store spectra acquired from
different types of instruments, modules, and amplifiers. During sample selection the user specifies
filter settings (amplifier type and wavelength region) which allows Vision to search the project for
samples satisfying these criteria.
