synchronous/asynchronous periodic 1-to-1 remote-copy configuration is 2400 volumes in all
(not 2400 volumes for synchronous mode and 6000 volumes for asynchronous periodic mode).

For HP 3PAR F-Class and T-Class storage systems, the maximum number of replicated volumes
on a mixed synchronous/asynchronous periodic 1-to-1 remote-copy configuration is 800
volumes in all (not 800 volumes for synchronous mode and 2400 volumes for asynchronous
periodic mode).

Each individual remote-copy group must be run in either synchronous or asynchronous periodic
mode.

Storage systems included in the 1-to-1 remote-copy relationship must have a maximum RTT
latency of 2.6 ms.

Bidirectional replication is supported. Volumes from array A can be replicated to target volumes
on array B while volumes from array B can be replicated simultaneously to target volumes on
array A.

To set up a mixed synchronous/asynchronous periodic 1-to-1 remote-copy configuration, you must
create two logical targets between the same system pair, one for synchronous mode and one for
asynchronous periodic mode. Each target has its own links. A minimum of two links is required
for each target. Four links are required between the source and target arrays. Synchronous
remote-copy groups are created using synchronous mode targets and asynchronous periodic groups
are created using asynchronous periodic mode targets.

NOTE:

For two-node systems, only one RCIP link is supported per node, so you must use RCFC

and RCIP together in a mixed-mode configuration. Pure RCIP for mixed mode is not supported on
two-node systems.

N-to-1 Remote-Copy Considerations

In an N-to-1 remote-copy configuration, up to four primary storage systems share a single backup
system, as illustrated in

Figure 15 (page 43)

When you configure remote-copy systems, you create a target definition on each system. This
target definition is used to identify the target system in the remote-copy pair; for example, the
primary system’s target system is the backup system. For more information, see

“Remote-Copy Pairs

and Targets” (page 99)

In an N-to-1 configuration, a single backup system participates in a maximum of four remote-copy
pairs, one remote-copy pair for each primary storage system, as illustrated in

Figure 16 (page 44)
