1. Check the status of the quorum witness by issuing the showrcopy -qw command, and ensure
that the quorum-witness state has advanced to the not-started state on both systems.
2. To start the quorum on the local machine, issue the start command:
# setrcopytarget witness start
3. Issue the showrcopy command to confirm that the quorum witness has started:
# showrcopy -qw targets

4. If the remote quorum witness is not in the Not-started state:
# setrcopytarget witness start RC164IP
error: Quorum for target RC164IP on system s045 is not in Not-started state
If the quorum witness on one system is automatically reset due to system instability, then the quorum
witness on the partner system will be reset back to the Re-starting state. The quorum will
undergo the same system stability checks undertaken during initialization and will automatically
transition to the Started state after the issue has cleared.
# showrcopy -qw targets

You can also tunnel the start command to the other HP 3PAR OS by using the -remote option:
# setrcopytarget witness start –remote
Stopping a Quorum Witness
To stop the quorum on the local machine, issue the stop command:
# setrcopytarget witness stop
You can also tunnel the stop command to the other HP 3PAR OS using the –remote option:
# setrcopytarget witness stop -remote
Stopping a quorum witness will result in its state being reset to Initializing, the same state
as when it is created. Similarly, the state will be automatically transitioned to Not-Started,
awaiting the issue of the user start command, when the stability of the system has been successfully
confirmed.
Removing a Quorum Witness
A quorum cannot be removed when it is in the Started state. It can be removed only when it is
in the Not-Started, Initialization, or Re-starting states.
