Corrective Actions
Cause/Symptom
Some HP ProLiant DL100 series servers temperature and
fan sensor metrics are not individually reported by default.
WARNING Alerts for the Nodeinfo service in
.
Instead, they are tallied in the "Sensor Count" metric. The
temperature and fan sensor metrics are monitored correctly
and are individually reported if they exceed the warning
or critical thresholds.
Ensure that the Configure
→Configure or Repair Agents task
was run on the managed systems.
Cannot distribute pdsh keys
If the pdsh command fails for the CMS, replace the fully
qualified name in the /opt/hptc/pdsh/nodes file
(venus.example.com) with the simple name (venus).
pdsh
command might fail for the CMS if the CMS host
name is not fully qualified
The CMS host name attribute in the HP SIM database might
change between its fully qualified name (for example,
venus.example.com) and its simple name (for example,
venus).
This might occur if the PSP components required by Insight
Control for Linux are not installed or configured on the
CMS.
Ensure that the management hubs were installed with
Management-Hub.cfg
or have all required Linux RPMs
installed.
Failure trying to install monitoring RPMs
Ensure that nrpe is running on the managed systems:
check_nrpe error: Connection refused by host
# /etc/init.d nrpe status
Perform these actions:
Problems exporting /hptc_cluster across the management
hubs
One such problem is that, when the /hptc_cluster file
system is NFS exported, the Collection Sensor Monitor
•
Use the /sbin/csys command to examine the
/hptc_cluster
cluster export status:
# /sbin/csys status
/hptc_cluster local, exported
service on the hub might time out. Additionally, the
shownode metrics
command hangs.
# /sbin/csys umount /hptc_cluster
# cat /etc/exports
.
.
/hptc_cluster

•
On the CMS, perform the appropriate procedure in the
section titled Open ports for NFS on the CMS (optional)
in the HP Insight Control for Linux Installation Guide.
Perform the appropriate action:
Syslog events for managed systems are not showing up in
consolidated log
•
Ensure that the
/opt/hptc/syslog-ng/bin/syslog-ng
command
is running on the management hubs:
# /etc/init.d/syslog-ng status
•
Run the logger command to verify that syslog
messages appear in the consolidated log and in the
aggregated log files:
# pdsh –a logger –p warn "test msg1"
# grep "msg1" \
/hptc_cluster/adm/logs/consolidated.log
Perform the following actions to verify the cause of the
problem:
Configure
→IC-Linux→Configure Management Services fails
with wget error on managed system so Insight Control for
Linux management agents cannot be installed on the
managed system.
1.
Log in to managed system as the root user.
2.
Manually run the /opt/hptc/mgmt/bin/
install.sh
script to view the wget failure.
