Troubleshooting Guide

The following paragraphs list possible Tank Sentinel console problems that may
occur after an installation and suggested solutions.

#1 — No Display Readout

a. Power is off. Check power switch SW1, and external circuit breaker.
b. Fuse open (blown) ...the keypad would be dead and LED D2 would not flash.

Check fuse F17 on the Main System PC board.

c. Loose keyboard display cable at J6 on Main System PC board, or loose cable J1

on the display / keypad PC Board. Check cables... firmly seated in connectors ?

d. Trimpot R2 on the display board is not adjusted properly. Turn R2 clockwise.

#2 — Keypad Not Responding

a. See and follow steps a. thru c. listed in #1 – No Display Readout (above)
b. Ribbon cable connecting a BrightBox to the console is incorrectly installed.

#3 — Programmed Setup Lost when Power is Lost

a. Battery B1 is not installed or is installed incorrectly. Inspect battery to ensure that

it’s properly installed.

b. Low Battery voltage / battery is dead. Test battery for nominal 3V DC (a 2.8 to 3.3

V DC reading is OK).

#4 — Printer Doesn’t Print

a. Power is off... (is the display and LED # D2 off?). Check power switch SW1 and

external circuit breaker (are these on?).

b. Printer paper is out or was installed incorrectly. Reinstall thermal paper roll (P/N

TS-TP2) and route as shown on the label under the printer cover.

c. Loose printer cable in J4 on the Main System PC board, or loose cable at J4 on the

printer board. (Are cables firmly seated into the connectors?)

#5 — Inaccurate Levels

a. Probe length, offsets, etc. improperly programmed. Review setup and correct.
b. Probe not “seated” in tank rise pipe. Straighten probe chain and reinstall probe.
c. Gradient programmed incorrectly. Reprogram.
d. Wrong floats or water float and product float interchanged. Check floats and install

new floats as required.

e. Tank tilted. Review installation instructions, measure tilt, and adjust offsets in tank

setup menu.

f.

Probe wiring faulty, or improperly installed. Review installation instructions, inspect
wiring, grounds, and connections.
